چکیده
We present photometric and spectroscopic observations of the 03fg-like Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) ASASSN-15hy from ultraviolet (UV) to near-infrared (NIR). shares many hallmark characteristics SNe Ia, previously referred as "super-Chandrasekhar" Ia. It is bright in UV NIR, lacks a clear i-band secondary maximum, shows strong persistent C ii feature, has low Si λ6355 velocity. However, some its properties are also extreme among subgroup. underluminous (MB,peak = mag), red ( yet slowly declining (Δm15(B) 0.72 ± 0.04 mag). most delayed onset maximum any SN. prominent H-band break emission feature that typically during first month past normal Such events may be potential problem for high-redshift SN cosmology. explained context an explosion degenerate core inside nondegenerate envelope. The impacting envelope with large mass provides additional luminosity ejecta velocities. The Type Ia Supernova
We present the rst measurement of the rate of Type Ia super-novae at high redshift. The result is derived using a large subset of data from the Supernova Cosmology Project as described in more detail at this meeting by Perlmutter et al. (1996). We present our methods for estimating the numbers of galaxies and the number of solar luminosities to which the survey is sensitive, the supernova detec...
متن کاملThe Type Ia Supernova Rate
We explore the idea that the Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) rate is made up of two components: a prompt piece that is proportional to the star formation rate (SFR) and an extended piece that is proportional to the total stellar mass. We fit the parameters of this model to the local observations of Mannucci and collaborators and then study its impact on three important problems. On cosmic scales, t...
متن کاملType Ia Supernova Light Curves
The diversity of Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) photometry is explored using a grid of 130 one-dimensional models. It is shown that the observable properties of SNe Ia resulting from Chandrasekhar-mass explosions are chiefly determined by their final composition and some measure of “mixing” in the explosion. A grid of final compositions is explored including essentially all combinations of Ni, stabl...
متن کاملCosmic Supernova Rate History and Type Ia Supernova Progenitors
We adopt a single-degenerate (SD) scenario, which assumes that a C+O white dwarf accretes H-rich meterials from the binary companion star and grows its mass to the Chandrasekhar mass to explode as a Type Ia supernova (SN Ia). There are two progenitor systems: One is a red-giant (RG) companion with the initial mass of MRG,0 ∼ 0.9 − 1.5M⊙ and an orbital period of tens to hundreds days 1 2 . The o...

On Mar. 7, 1994, Treffers, Filippenko and Van Dyk (1994) discovered the Type Ia supernova (SN Ia) 1994D in the SO galaxy NGC 4526, a member of the Virgo cluster which was was about 12 days before maximum light. Subsequently, both the light curve in Johnson’s UBVRI colors and spectra a have been monitored by several groups (e.g. Filippenko et al. private communication, Smith et al., 1995) making...
